it seems as though there's been a ton of carryovers this meet. my friday nights at holly have been either feast or famine; here's hoping i get to feast tonight. i will try to post my tix (i'm playing a fairly significant one tonight) right before the first leg. the scratch of duke of green in the fifth has really thrown tonight's carryover card right up in the air.

r2: christel flame. very rare indeed for me to back a filly running with the boys, but do believe christel flame will get a good pace set up front with all the but mont st michel set to show speed. 'flame made a big middle move in her last, only to get run down late. she should be dead fit in her second off the shelf and i'm thinking i'll get a real nice price in this five horse field. not the most likely winner of the race, just the best gamble.

r4: dear to me. i won't single this one, but this gelding looks to be sitting on a smasher for mitchell. got two useful sprint preps for bell and now gets the patented mitchell juice. with patrick and the rail, this horse will be sent and may be very tough to run down. swift hero will probably go favored, but with 15 losses on his resume, i'm leaving him be. western fame was my seleciton last time (also on a friday night), and he looked like a wild horse finishing that race after elminating himself at the start. bengoa is an interesting longshot play with garcia taking the controls from nakatani.

r6: weho. this one made up a ridiculous 15 lengths in half a mile with a huge run against the cellar dwelling maidens. steps up in here, but i like the pace scenario in here as a bunch of these fillies should be trying to get to the front. i expect alex to lag back, and make a big move turning for home. you can't make a living backing stone closers, but we should get a decent price to find out if she can pass 'em all.

r7: arsen. talk about speed! quinton's gold and menacing dennis will be throwing down in the first quarter of a mile. wouldn't be surprised to see a sub- 44:3 half in here. now, they either both just quit, or they run 1-2 around the track. i'm thinking they're going to get tired, specially menacing dennis, who is first time turf and making his second start off grueling comeback race.

good luck.

roanoke- tough to find a solid single. i am vacillating between no singles and shortening up in a couple of races or taking a stand with a single and spreading even further.

lifeabet- thanks.

champs- frank lyons is the only one on the hollywood broadcast that knows anything. ken rudolph is a bufoon and todd s. is just background noise. speed speed speed- all that means is the best two horses ran 1-2 around the track. big deal. one race does not a bias make- particularly when that race is dead on form.

maz- I'll agree with you on Frank Lyons. I listen to him the most as what he has to say. i just happen to walk in as I didn't see the fist race.

well, am scaling things back a bit with my single- rationale was as follows: if i had another 3 horses in the fifth, who would i use? i had no idea, so i'm taking the only horse that i that i actually wanted to use, trilogy.

r3: 2,6,8
r4: 1,6,7
r5: 1
r6: 1,3,4,5,7,9
r7: 2,3,4,5
r8: 1,4,6,8

$1728

and by the way, i was just watching tvg -- todd schrup (sp?) truly is an idiot.

thanks. i was thinking of singling street band, but i knew she wouldn't make the lead (although i thought it would be babbler, not my stars to make the top) and i didn't know if 'band could rate. i guess the answer is a resounding yes.

rooting for you mazel, hope you can get the 6 or 8 across and take out some tickets. I can't really gauge pick 6 tickets, but right now Im guessing it will return around your money if the 1 or 4 come in.

and about the TVG guys, lyons does come across as the best, even to us lame horse players. but rudolph is kind of funny, he'll say anything, if the camera shows a kid picking his ass, he'll make a wiseass comment about it.
Root on my great uncles horse at churchill sunday. Restitution in the 2nd. I might be in the winners circle if it wins, unless Im screwing around in the infield listening to Daryl Worley.

will you be playing churchill sunday mazel?

matt- very short p/6 tonight. lucky to get my money back if the chalk wins, even with the consolations.

as for rudolph, i get the fact they need a better personality to move the show along, so i don't pay much attention to what he's saying. he's just auditioning for motion picture roles anyway...

as for churchill, i may play, depending on whether or not i hit the beach. if i play, i'll post and i'll wish ya luck on restitution.

that thing was moving at the end. Not quite like the 7 horse that was 70-1 a couple of weeks back, but i think they just said it was the same trainer.

guys- you are not going to believe this- i may be the biggest asshole in america right now. my all-time favorite horse (even more so than mazel trick) was the wicked north (i singled him in the first 25k+ pick-6 i hit in 1993) and i always put his offspring in my exotics. in fact, i put a little cash on wicked sami his first two races. i was going to use him, but he was sooo bad in his first two starts i left him out. no excuses but sheer stupidity. oh well, tomorrow's another day and this thing wasn't going to pay much with the favorite winning anyway.
